I became a registered nurse, just over 8 years ago, with the intention of working full time, to support my growing family and my artistic endeavors. I have since worked full time, specializing in critical care units like Intensive and post operative care. My days off from the hospital are spent between my family and my studio.
I began painting some 13 years ago, after a life altering event. With no formal training, I began to put color on paper, canvas, and wood. It has been my great fortune, to have placed paintings in public and private collections around the globe. I became a nurse, to support the painting habit. The habit has become a way of life for me and I am compelled to do more.
I have painted in sub zero conditions, with a small space heater and painted when the studio was stifling hot. I've used many spaces to paint, from a furnace room, to a barn, a small apartment, a cellar work space, the stage at a local Catholic school, an extra bedroom, to the open outdoors.
My intention in raising these funds, is to appropriate a proper studio, outside of my home, where I will be able continue painting. With a second child due in September, my need to move into a space outside of the home is immediate. Local studios are requiring six months to a years lease.
My singular purpose is to make this world a more colorful place to be. Love and an abiding faith in this creative process fuel my purpose. With your help, I will continue to create, on a grander scale than before. I invite you to view what I have been doing, as an artist @ my FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/Josephconradfermsart
