Help Jewel’s medical bills

Update posted by Vivian Cheng On Mar 02, 2021

[Media contained can be uncomfortable to some viewers]

Today, we've found out that the swelling wound on her leg has started to leak out pus again, leading to a slightly more swollen leg. Her poop coulur has also turned black with a tint of blood. We will be bringing her to vet to have it checked out. However, the fundraising goal will not be raised for the moment.

Why we decided to raise the goal to $10,000: The first and second hospitalisation costs a total of $6000 (Mount Pleasent and Gaia), with 2 reviews costing about $300 each at Mount Pleasent. The recent review (includes blood tests) at Gaia was around $665. The total is now around $7000, way more than what we expected. It will only be a matter of time before the additional reviews will add up the total bill to $10000. As said before, only my husband is working, bringing in around $2700 after CPF, so a lot of our savings are exhausted. [I cannot find a job at the moment because I have to take extra care of Jewel]

UPDATE 2: Her pancreatitis has caused her to have anaemia (low blood count), which meant that she required a blood transfusion (already done). This has caused the bill to be a little more expensive. Additionally, her swollen leg (which she got before her admission) had to be burst, resulting in pus flowing out. But there is still some out hidden inside her leg. Upon further investigation, the pus which the hospital (Mount Pleasent) tried to culture, did not contain bacteria, which means that she has cancer. [She has transfered to another hospital, Gaia Veterinary Centre]

The official admit fee (includes hospitalisation and medication) is about $3000, with subsequent reviews (per 2 to 3 weeks) ranging from $200 to $300. This could all add up to more than $5k, depending if her condition improves.

[Latest test report from doctor. Anesthetic for Jewel is dangerous, considering her age and condition. As such, procedures like surgery, CT scan and biopsy were being requested not to be done.]
