Help Jessi Get To Lyon!

BONJOUR À  TOUS!

Hey all, and thanks for checking this page out! As you may know, I'm planning to spend my senior year of University (2014-15) abroad in Lyon, France. Studying abroad is requisite for both of my majors -- cool, right? YES BUT ALSO EXPENSIVE.  So here's the deal: the first step is actually getting there. And I am poor, like, way poor. I've held two (and sometimes three when I've been especially idiotic) jobs along with my college courses for three years now, which has been great for paying rent and getting my beloved old car towed every other week. Unfortunately, this has not helped much in establishing a savings.

THIS, O BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, IS WHERE YOU COME IN!

If you have ever loved me   even menially liked me  um how do I say this  

I need some funding. Student loans, those dirty yet necessary plagues of our time, will help me out, but they don't kick in until fall -- that's October, folks. But I have SEVEN GRAND OF FEES to pay by September, two of which are due as soon as possible to secure my housing. As I am not a member of the Kardashian family,

this is proving to be quite problematic.  

THE GAME PLAN

While en France, I'll be working to complete my double major in Romance Languages (Spanish and French) and International Studies, with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. For those (all) of you who are (with reason) asking/wanting to ask the age-old question "What are you planning to do with that?"

TO YE I SAY:

Besides gaining fluency in my third language and formulating a major thesis on gender relations and their comprehensive integration into the political/social development system, I will be completing my certificate to teach language (starting with English) to children and adults abroad. After graduation, I plan to pursue this for at least one year, after which I plan to volunteer either with Peace Corps or with an education-based nonprofit organization. Other potential post-bac possibilities may or may not entail another year of school for full teaching certification/post-bac art teaching certification or the pursuit of a Master's in Journalism.

O THE FUTURE, SO VAST AND SO MYSTERIOUS.  

IN CONCLUSION

I am fully aware that there are far more needy causes than my own academic pursuits in the world, so I truly and humbly appreciate any consideration and donations of any amount, be it fifty cents or one million dollars.

It is not typically in my nature to ask others for help like this, but I really am at a bit of a loss here. I'm so excited to take the next step this big ole college thing! Thanks so much for your time, all. With love and gratitude, je dis merci beaucoup et à plus!
