Help Jemil Bernal win over Myoma and Renal Disease

Welcome all! This page is dedicated to raising funds for my sister, Jemil Bernal, and our whole family with continuous medical costs to sustain her dialysis treatment twice weekly and for her operation due to myoma.

My sister has been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Failure six years ago and has been a great fighter ever since. Her case was asymptomatic and we didn't know until that day back in 2010, when she was hospitalized and was advised by the doctors to undergo dialysis. The whole family are pouring in all efforts to sustain her medical needs up to this day.

Four years ago, she was diagnosed with myoma. Doctors performed Paracenthesis to remove the water that was accumulating in her belly, but it came to a point where they can no longer take the fluid out as it formed into gel-like, and the process became painful as it started to drain blood instead of water. Her belly started to become bigger and bigger, that she looked like she's pregnant. However, her navel also became protruded, which already reached the size that is considered as dangerous.

The first few years after being diagnosed was very hard, both emotionally and financially, but we believed that everything will be okay, through the grace of God as well as the motivation brought by our mother, who even in her senior years, spearheaded the family and constantly looked for a way to support her needs. But the stress took toll on my mom, as in 2015, she was diagnosed with the same disease and succumbed to a complication in blood just 2 months ago, May 3rd, 2016.

Although we are still mourning with the loss of our beloved mom, we can't stop finding ways to support my sister. But we are almost out of resources, as we are still recovering from the medical expenses incurred for my mom's treatment.

When a friend posted a fundraiser in Facebook, I did not hesitate to try as I believe there are a lot of kind-hearted people around the globe, who can help, more than the donations, but also give encouraging words and probably can refer us to medical professionals who can offer treatment and operation cost at a much affordable rate.

Continuous dialysis treatment, more lab tests, workup costs in preparation for her operation, and the operation fee itself, could almost take a quarter of a million pesos or maybe more. The whole family is trying to come up with the resources but we would need all the help we can get.

Despite all these, we are still holding on to our faith that one day, everything will be alright. We know God and our Mama will always be with us.
