Jackie is my 5 year old Dapple Dachshund, on January 14th she was showing signs of being sick but what I was unaware of is that her symptons were signs of IVDD. That night she went down and has not walked since. I could not afford the $5500 surgery at the emergency vet and even my vet (who is amazing) offered me lower, $3800 for the surgery I also could not afford that. I would like to get the lower totalled surgery if possible. Right now I am doing Conservative treatment which is strict crate rest and a lot of meds. She is on Steroids, Valium, Antiacids, Glucosamine and Lactulose. I need to refill most of these weekly or bi weekly. That is on top of the pee pads since she is incontinent now and the bi weekly vet visits. If I cannot get the surgery or the conservative treatment does not work then I will need to get her a doggy wheelchair which is also quite a bit of money.

Anything helps really. I started a fundraiser on another site and it crashed so I needed to move to a more reliable site. Thank you in advance from Jackie and I.

Update posted by Kendra at 09:27 pm

I took Jackie to the vet on 1/29/13. She has DPS which means Deep Pain Sensation, this is good because surgery could still help her walk and she hasn't lost all feeling in her legs. The vet decided to put her back on steroids since we had weaned her off
