Thank you so much for taking the time to read and (hopefully) donate to my GoGetFuding page! My name is Jacinta and I’m a recently turned 18-year-old residing in the quaint city of Hobart – Tasmania’s capital.
This year in grade 12 I, along with my other classmates have been working hard to achieve our Certificate III in Tourism. Following the completion of this course in December, I have been given an amazing opportunity to access continued education at TAS TAFE studying Adventure Guiding.
The full time course TAFE offers goes for the duration of next year and has both practical and theory units on cultural sensitivity, flora and fauna identification, first aid, conflict management, customer service and an array of other elements instrumental in creating a viable career in the Tourism industry guiding.
After seven life-changing years in the Scouting Movement where I have grown up surrounded by nature and those who seek to protect it, I now aspire to conserve it too, and believe that there is no better way to facilitate a love of the outdoors with people than by kindling it with a warm hand from eco-tourism.
Not only does my aspiration to delve into the wider guiding community benefit my personal growth, but the closer community and greater world by helping to preserve it all whilst helping develop international relations and the economy!
To combat the imposing cut off time in February 2017 to raise a fundraising goal of approximately $2452 dollars for the following –
- Estimated program costs for next year’s course is $1500
- 85L backpack for extended field trips approx. $250
- Warm thermal clothing $102
- Fees of $400 towards gaining a full drivers licence (cost inc. assessments and driving lessons) so I can obtain a light ridged licence to manoeuvre tour guiding buses asap
- Contingency money for possible extra expenses incurred $200
I have started to raise money in other ways by doing odd babysitting jobs, selling old books, toys and other luxury items to get the ball rolling. As well as this I’m currently trying to secure paid employment so I can not only sufficiently support myself but fund future education expenditure.
I am excited at the thought of this fantastic opportunity and am undoubtedly grateful to anyone who helps me reach my goal through kindness and support. Every little contribution towards this fundraiser really does help and will go towards making my personal goal of $2452. Any funds that are donated above what I require will be given to Bush Heritage Australia – a nationwide non for profit organisation working to conserve biodiversity within the country (for more info check this link: www.bushheritage.org.au/).
Also, if you have any advice that could assist me or anyone else finding their feet in the guiding sector of the tourism industry don’t hesitate to shoot that through!
Thanks again for helping my dreams come to fruition, I will keep donators informed throughout the course next year by reporting back via the use of this website.
