Hi, everyone!

Many thanks to all who visited this page! My name is Denis; I’m a solider in the Ukrainian military. For several years I have engaged in military archeology. In the vicinity of my native village there were large battles during WW2, especially September through November of 1943 in the Battle of Kiev. Many people were killed and went missing in these battles. Our small archaeology squad has located the remains of several Soviet soldiers. The remains were moved to a cemetery and laid to rest. Our squad has found many artifacts which were donated to museums and local schools. However, there are still many Soviet and German soldiers who died here, and still have not been found. For over 70 years these soldiers have been laying in the ground waiting to be found. We find the soldiers by metal detecting the equipment such as helmets, buttons, etc. However, there is a technical problem. To successfully clear an area we need a metal detector which can detect objects at a depth of several meters. As of now we use an old metal detector that can only detect objects to a depth of half a meter. The price of a modern metal detector that we need is about $1200 USD (for example Garret GTI 2500, Fisher TW-6, Whites T-808, etc). This is a very large amount of money in the Ukraine, which we don’t have. In the Ukrainian military our salaries are small, and our economy is down due to the war in the eastern regions of Ukraine. If able please help us raise funds for a new metal detector so we can find as many fallen soldiers as we can, and lay them to rest properly. These men have been waiting for more than 70 years to be honored. The relics and artifacts will be placed in museums to help save the memory and history of WWII. Thank you to all who took the time to read this and choose to will help. We would also appreciate anyone who could possibly donate a used metal detector. I would like to send the funds to my friend's account in the US. He will then purchase the metal detector in the US and have it shipped to me in the Ukraine. If you have any questions, please mail me: [email protected] .

  • Please continue to honor these men as they deserve; both German and Soviet. They were all soldiers, and deserve our respect, and to be able to rest in peace.
