I am in need of money to show my pictorial exhibit to the people in Canyon who know very little about their 47 foot cowboy icon that was built by my dad in 1960. He was an amazing genius who was a kind and humble man. He created this cowboy by hand and weighs over 7 tons. Originally he had Levi Strauss jeans and a real shirt made by a tent and awing company. See blog Levi Strauss. I was 16 at the time. He worked as a technical writer for the Amarillo Air Force base and built the cowboy part time by himself. He also had to sew the Levi Strauss jeans and shirt on the cowboy by himself with the use of a crane and an old ladder. He also built a curio shop (see picture from my campaign) a motel, a 22 foot cowboy and a gunfighter museum with the help from an artist friend, Ruth Mayer and original looking clothes from Emma Hood. He also did many innovative things in his life which was varied and I believe, no one can do in their lifetime. This pictorial exhibit is the best achievement of mine, since I have no artistic talent in painting or sculpture or music! He did those things, but was well known also for his teaching along with my wonderful mother who was a piano teacher and composer. There is a project group who are repairing the big cowboy named Tex Randall by painting him. My pictorial exhibit includes dad's life story beginning in 1930's to his death in 1997. It includes rare pictures, stories, rare items and his innovations. He needs to be honored by the special project group and the people of Canyon do also. So much information has been incorrect that people do not know about him. The people in Canyon would love to meet the daughter of their icon and would be more happy to learn of the artist whose life would be extremely interesting to them. Their eyes of delight are my only reward! I do not gain anything else. Donors will be sent a very good picture of the exhibit board and another special personal gift. My motto is "Every one has a Story."
