• He works 16 hours a day, sometimes 20 and even on Sundays in order to keep the business going. Istvan Kurpe lives in Transylvania , in a small village where he discovered his passion 5 years ago. He graduated from high school in 2009 with a tailor certificate. After graduation, he went to Budapest, where he worked as a tailor in a clothing manufacture.Istvan wanted to be close to his family so he returns in Transylvania in 2013 but he has difficulties in finding a job related to his qualification. Since the collapse of communism in 1989 , the most important textile & clothing manufactures have been privatised and forced to stop production because of higher costs and the increase of the imports of cheaper clothes and fabrics. Istvan decided to try something different even if he knew at that time that it will be hard. And that's when he decided to launch himself into the upholstery business. At first, he started to restore and customize car interior upholstery and after a while he also began to provide furniture upholstery services.Five years of hard work brought amazing results! His hands are gold!

• However, no one helped him to put his ideas in practice , except for his older brother who lent him some money to invest in tools and build his stock of fabrics. • Istvan had a hard childhood. He was born in a poor family, in a country where the government does not encourage and sustain small entrepreneurs.Istvan had an aggressive and alcoholic father, who didn't care about his children's future. They lived in a rented house and their mother raised and gave them a good education. At that time it was very difficult for her to take care of her little boys , while their father terrorized them. The older brother took all the responsibilities while Istvan grew to mature for a child his age. His father rejection made him too sensitive to his problems and having difficulties to discuss about it. He sometimes has nightmares about his childhood of their father drunk showing up home in the middle of the night while their mother has to hide and protect them. • Istvan's father problems with alcohol didn't end, despine his close relatives involvement in attempt to help him with his dependence. Istvan decided to move out alone. It's then when he decided to start the upholstery business. He rented an old house and he turned a room into a workplace. He also could afford to renovate a small room where he could sleep. However, the place doesn't have good conditions , no kitchen , no bathroom, not even running water. Each day, during his brake time, Istvan goes visiting his mother and she prepares him lunch. After a short talk, Istvan returns to his work. • After a few moths he started the upholstery business his parents where forced to leave the rented house because it was put on sale. They had 1 week term to move.So the Kurpe brothers put their savings together and built their parents a small place to live. Son, their father got sick and operated to both legs. He has now a small pension that can barely afford him his medications.

• After 5 years of work and obstacles, the results are amazing. Istvan's total dedication to his work gave results that rarely someone in his conditions could achieve. In an attempt to build a team, Istvan was disappointed he couldn't find someone that could get involved in a long-term business partnership. As a worker and as a patron, Istvan is a perfectionist who knows each step he has to follow to get the job done. Each detail must be taken very seriously and nothing neglected.

• Istvan's dream is to build is own upholstery workshop and to continuate performing his work with car interior upholstery. To have a proper workplace, a beautiful workshop with the tools he needs to perfect his techniques, we are addressing you, asking for your help and hoping that each of you could contribute to make his dream becoming true.

• After 5 years he still has financial struggeles, needing to suport his parents and to invest in new tools and materials in order to keep his business going. Day buy day it turs out that the workshop he dreames of is still far away from materialize. He also have the phobia getting involved with the bank.

• We are asking for your help because we want us together to send a message to Istvan: that he must never lose his hope, that his dream is not impossible and his motivation must remain each morning he wakes up, each new day he starts. That's because he is totally dedicated to his work and deserves to have a proper place and the tools he needs in order to perfect his techniques.Doing his job better and better , day buy day will bring him big satisfaction and happiness.A proper environment will help him to more valorize his talent.

• Dear donors, a part of your donations will be used to buy a plot of land where the workshop will be built. The construction will be made with the help of Istvan's older brother who has the knowledge and the experience needed.
