Campaign Story
My name is Gil Carandang. I am an organic farmer and sustainable agriculture advocate, and teacher. I do not have enough resources to take care of my son...we make our money from the produce we are able to grow on our humble farm. Thus, I appeal for your kind financial support and prayers.
My 35-year old son Gian was on his way home, riding in tandem with a friend on a motorbike. While in one of the barrios, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at them. While his friend was able to jump and run, one of the bullets hit Gian’s spine.
Gian was operated on for the gunshot, and was in the ICU for four days at CP Reyes Hospital, Tanaun City. He was moved to another hospital for a spine operation. The doctor is optimistic that, with lots of therapy, he may be able to use his legs.
However, the bullet has damaged one of his ureters, and a stent was placed to enable the urine to drain. At the moment, he is unable to control both his urine and bowel movements. Despite the operation, his severed ureter is not draining properly. According to the doctor, another operation may have to be done to fix this, followed by more therapy.
I am appealing to my friends, family, and fellow organic farming enthusiasts for prayers and financial help. Gian worked with me on the land, and helped others establish their own organic farms. On weekends, he made the hours-long drive to the city of Makati to sell our produce at the Salcedo Market.
Please...help heal my son.

Right kidney is gone
Update posted by Gil Carandang at 03:19 amGian had his operation yesterday morning, and unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save his ureter. Rather than install a permanent "drain," his doctors decided to remove his right kidney, which was attached to the severed ureter. Despite losing one of his kidneys, Gian is in good spirits. Hopefully, there

Sir, thank you for your work in sustainable farming. We do not know each other personally, but I am grateful for your work and it led the way for small business owners like me to take the brave steps towards the sustainable lifestyle, and for fair trade in agri. My thoughts are with you as you heal your family.
