We are raising funds for Dustin's immediate expenses eg. Medicine, doctors fees, physio etc.... and the support of his family in this trying time.

Dustin was on a training cycle on mothers day, the 8 May, when a security van hit him from behind. His body was thrown into the air, and he landed on his back. He has a broken T12. He has lost 30% bone height. His legiments, disk and bones are all broken. He is in tremedous pain. This is a very frustrating position to be in after being such an active athlete.

Thank for taking the time to read about his plight.

Update posted by Rosemarie Machetto at 07:11 am

The doctor said that nothing has moved but the pain is permanent and somehow he must just try and live with it, the alternative is, they would send him for an mri and operate, but if they start that now, it will make matters worse and he would have to. . . . .

  • Thank you Denise for your generous donation. You are 1 very brave lady. God definitely had you in the palm of his hand while you went through all those difficulties & challenges. Thank you for inspiring me, as you know depression is right there constantly because all normality of life is taken away. So my role as bread winner, playing an active role in my daughters life and athlete has been taken away, but life carries on, bills roll in, and no one except my family and I are effected. Keep my family and myself in your prayers and I will keep you in mine. God bless you Denise, thank you for your love and caring. Love Dustin

  • Dustin, I've noticed in some of your comments you sounded-well, hopeless. I have been thru something similar. I fell off of my roof, on cement. I had broken my pelvis,in five places. I crushed my coccyx, and crushed and completely broke my left wrist. (I'm left handed, go figure) I was taken by ambulance (horrible pain) to a hospital that had the one surgeon in my state that could repair my wrist. She said it was like piecing together a jig saw puzzle. She did an excellent job, I have almost full use of my left hand. My pelvis was left to mend itself as they told me surgery was too risky. Well, 8 months later, after not even being able to walk or sit I was again working as a retail pharmacist. I wish I could say everything healed perfectly but it did not. Walking is painful, but I CAN WALK! I had to get off of the pain medication-that was very hard & took awhile. But I'm off of it. I can make it with Ibuprofen 400mg, 4x day. I cannot work anymore. I lost my house and my first born son died at 43 years old. Only when that happened, did I give up on living. And I tried to die. I was still on pain meds at that point. I know the pain patch you were/are on. I was on it along with oral pain meds. When my son died, I no longer felt I could endure one more hour with the physical and emotional pain I was in. As I was taking handfuls of pills, I was praying-trying to make peace with God. I said "God, I know you don't want me to go thru any more pain. Please forgive me.I said this each time I emptied a bottle of pills.I didn't think it was possible to have pain all around you, inside of you too; but it is. One of my sisters found me. Why am I telling you all of this. I want you to know I understand. I've also learned that the medication you are on(and need to be on) changes how you think. It makes you feel hopeless with no end in sight. But it does end, Dustin. You will get better. You must hang on, if not for yourself right now, do it for your family and all of us that love you. Of course you have unbearable pain-you broke your back!! Everything is shifted and your body is trying to compensate. Look toward that pain free day! It could be right around the corner!! Love, Denise
