Help Haley Homebirth.

Thank you for taking the time to view my fundraiser! My name is Haley and I'm a 25 year old mother, pregnant with my second child. I'm currently in my 3rd trimester very close to my "due date" at the end of this month. This is something I've been wanting to do but have also been fearful to do, and now I am here trying to fully surrender to this process and ask for help. This year has been very life changing for myself, and as I'm finally getting closer to giving birth, I'm finally facing a lot of things I was trying to avoid.

I’ve applied for several grants made for moms, to fund holistic maternity care, so that they have access to the care they deserve while pregnant, giving birth, and postpartum. Unfortunately I have not been able to receive any funding and for so long I was trying to avoid asking for financial help, and now as I get closer, although it has seemed like it may not be possible due to the short amount of time I have, I have been feeling the urge to put any limitations I have in my head to the side and just open myself up to the opportunity that I may receive the help I need.

Asking for help has never been easy for me, but since becoming a mother I have found it very necessary to allow myself to receive help and also to not have shame to ask for it when I need it. As it's said "It takes a village...", and yes, it most certainly does.

Most birth centers and home birth Midwives are not covered by insurance, my insurance especially. The costs for an out of hospital birth in CA can range from $6-8,000, and these costs are fully deserved by the Midwives based on the care, work, and services they offer to our communities. Insurance companies will typically not want to pay them what they are worth, so it leads most Midwives to not accept insurance and being cash only.

"To break it down for you the cost of a home birth covers all your prenatal care, two midwives you know well at the birth, often a student midwife, maybe even a birth tub rental, on-call availability where we answer our phone 24/7 during the 37–42 week window and any questions answered in between visits, plus any extra care.

It includes immediate postpartum care of 3–6 hours following most births with multiple in-home visits the first week through the first 6–8 weeks post birth. It includes a newborn exam, where we check the baby head to toe, weigh and measure the baby, listen to all 4 quadrants of his or her heart, check the lungs, check all the reflexes, and offer any ongoing support or recommendations, including referrals to higher level of care. It includes any supportive services you might need: extra breastfeeding support on day 2 after things were going well right after the birth. Sure, call your midwife! She will come over, talk you through..." - Midwife Monika Rosicka

I personally feel safest and most comfortable giving birth outside of a hospital where I know all of my needs and concerns will be met, I will be in full control of birthing the way I want to, and most of all, I can birth in peace and let things flow how they are meant to naturally. Giving birth is a very sacred experience and being in a calm, safe, and undisturbed environment is something I value the most. My goal is to be able to raise the funds needed in enough time to where I can have the birth I desire in my home with a Midwife, or at least be able to birth at a birthing center again.

I appreciate all who have came across this, read my story, those who consider donating, or to anyone who may not even be in a place to but can share with anyone they know that may be able to. Any amount is very appreciated, no amount is too little, and it all means so much to my family and I. Thank you to everyone in my village and support system who believe in me and who pour into me, not only with monetary support, but also with good intentions, love, encouragement, and positivity.
