Help Gurune FM to upgrade their equipment and refurbish their community radio station in rural Ghana.
Radio Gurune 99.3FM is a Rural Broadcasting Station located in Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East region of Ghana. Gurune is also known as FraFra. The adopted name Frafra is a corruption from colonial times of the greeting "Ya fara-fara?" which means "How is your suffering [work]?" Gurune FM promotes Frafra Music - Fashion - Art and Craft.
It also uses radio as a voice to help develop the potentials of the people of Bolgatanga and its surrounding settlements and communities to the highest level through total education and access to information.
We strive for communities, where women will be accorded equality and dignity, supporting farming and other economic activities, which need to be modernized and advance education and health. Furthermore it is important that the Gurune language and culture is preserved as a living testimony of their identity.
We are raising funding in stages to upgrade the studio and equipment in Bolgatanga, Ghana. We need a new transmitter. The transmitters are the heart and soul of a radio station’s transmission system. Refurbish the facility. Once funds have been raised, we will buy the transmitter and get it shipped directly to Bolgatanga. The money for refurbishment will be passed on to Gurune FM.
