We're from the Philippines and music, gaming and over-all fun have always been a part of our lives. Growing up in the 90’s, we felt how these things, at least for a short period of time, brought people together: friends, siblings and, yes, even parents. Whether you have people coming over to your house, or meeting them at school and internet cafes, - whether playing games or making music over snacks and booze – it was a great experience.
We want to bring that to all of you.
Starting our journey together officially in February 14th, 1998, the boys began as run-away high school kids that retreated to Mt. Banahaw – the border to the provinces of Laguna and Quezon. Staying there to experience life on their own, in the middle of their teenage years, – their brotherhood was formed. The wild teens, made the climb. By being true friends, the boys survived the trip: climbing up as lost friends, coming down as brothers.
After returning to their families their lives, they were given the name, and would embrace the title for decades to come.
Fast forward to the present, the Banahaw Boys are now older, over-sized high school dudes that never grew up. Now only with bigger hearts, and an even bigger wanting for having more fun and music.
Making music and having a good time is the same as getting together and playing games. This is why we almost always end up both. Always needing to sing our hearts out. Despite all the problems, as long as we can still drum up a beat, strum the guitar strings and sing our hearts out, no day is too much to handle.
Always have, and will always do.
On the other hand, we always thought that only people with the time and money can truly appreciate playing video and hobby games. We spent many days in arcades, console rental shops, hobby pods and internet cafes in our childhood, and could never get over the excitement we had, all the way to this very day.
While many of us, both children and the children-at-heart, go on and think that a full-blown gaming experience is reserved for other countries, we want to bring it home - one frag grenade, one tango, a few hadoukens and one Battlecruiser Yamato Canon blast, at a time. That for a few minutes every day, we can share the hype.
We can share the awesome. We can share the fun.
So sit back, kick your feet up and we’ll take care of your fun. From gameplays to gaming reviews, cool commentary to comedy, all the way to serenades and songs, the Banahaw Boys will always be here, with their own down-to-earth, nostalgic-90s and wacky brand of fun.
Knock yourselves out, Chongs and Chongs! Because chances are, we already did, ourselves!
