During end of September and first days in October Hurricane Maria passed through our small village in Dominican Repubblic.
Ramon Santana is a local village inside the amazing isle of DR.
I've been personally spending all my personal work break inside this community since here I find always happyness and enjoy the life in contact with Nature. People is wonderfull always ready to support you anyhow.
I remember once I visited an almost 90 yrs old woman living alone inside a really small but green colored house. She just had 3 oranges on the table and nothing else to eat and she got offended we she wanted me to accept one and I was regreting. These people have really opened heart.
Here Most of the houses here are made with wood or steel plate. Some of them do not have toilette inside the house or even pavement but still ground.
Electricity is a huge problem since it is not always available and neither water. It comes almost every 2 days.
During last month the Hurricane destroyed most of these house and the big river summerged all the surrounded areas leaving people with nothing.
We recollected as much as we could in order to provide water and food but even clothes blanket etc.
The local government help with some material to rebuild some houses but unfortunately it is not enought.
Some people still do not have a mattress where to sleep.
Since it is really hard to give donation to the right person being in another country my target is to travel as soon as possible and provide personally materials and helps to the community.
Any help would be well accepted. Even if it is not my homeland I feel like I need to do something to help.
My target is helping the community to recover from the disaster but also to invest part of the amount received to create a play park for children to help them get our of the street and play safely.
These are some pictures of the situation after the Hurricane.
