Let’s give Maro the greatest gift ever^

On 29th July 2016, my little nephew Maro, was born with serious birth defects which includes Esophageal atresia (EA - meaning the tube from his mouth did not connects to the stomach - cannot eat or drink from his month), Coronal Hypospadia and a mild Spinal Bifida (mild spinal cord problem). This occurs in like 1 in 2500 live births. Maro is my only sister first child.

The good news is, Maro’s illnesses can be treated by specialized doctors using advanced but costly medical procedures. We have been advised to have him treated at a specialized children hospital in US or Germany and have been in talks with doctors in Seattle and Munich. Estimated cost to give Maro a normal childhood ranges from $50K to $100K.

There is no chance to get an insurance to cover the cost. So have been working a lot here in Germany to raise money for his treatment, but it's still a very long way to $50k.

Over the past 10 months, Maro has undergone 6 major operations in Nigeria where he was born. Sadly, the doctors there have made bad choices and do not have the right training/medical equipment needed for the treatments. Only gastronomy operation was successful, which allows him to feed directly to the stomach. The right G-tube is not available in the country and a large pipe is used as an alternative for feeding him. He is yet to undergo the surgery for the EA and Spinal cord repair. At 11 months he weighs 4.9 kg.
