Help Gino fight Cancer

I am Angelo (Gino to my family and friends), a 24-year old college student from Pasig City. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Nodular Sclerotic Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma in January 2018. Since then I have taken 8 sessions of chemotherapy and 20 sessions of radiation therapy. However, although the cancerous masses have been reduced in size, some remain and are notably active. I am thus due for further, more aggressive treatment.

According to my oncologist, for the next line of treatment, the best would be targeted chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplant.

The chemotherapy entails a single drug: Brentuximab Vedotin (brand name Adcetris), a monoclonal antibody designed specifically to target the tumor cells, given up to 16 doses of two vials each, one every three weeks. One vial costs as much as P 260,000, so a full treatment could reach around P 8,000,000. With the help of my oncologist, I signed up for financial assistance from Axios International, an organization dedicated to improving access to healthcare in developing countries. I was approved for all vials free of charge throughout the treatment, but on the condition that I pay for the first one within the year. I would also need a Pet Scan to check for remission, which costs an additional P 60,000. This amounts to a total of P 320,000 for my immediate needs.

As my initial treatments exhausted both my health card benefits and my family’s modest resources, we had to rely on the generosity of family and friends whose assistance defrayed more than a considerable portion of the expenses.

At this point, we literally cannot afford the cost of this further treatment. I and my family are hoping that we can make this appeal for your kind assistance and allow me to undergo and complete the required regimen and finally be cured and rid of this horrid disease.
