*Urgent appeal for funds to cover Gingersnap's medical bills *

Gingersnap was rescued in August 2021 by Project Luni. This handsome prince quickly found his furever home with cat mom Mira who was instantly drawn in by his soulful eyes and quirky ways. With a spirit that's vibrant yet tender, Gsnap (as he's known to his crew!) always found ways to bring grace and laughter to any situation, whether on the street, at home, or at the vet.

Around mid-November, Gsnap started to behave out of sorts. He was losing his spark and it was clear that he was very sick. He visited the vet multiple times over the course of a week but was not responding to any treatment. Gsnap was warded at Animal Recovery Veterinary Centre on 23 November after very worrying blood test results. He was stabilised with ivy fluids and a feeding tube, and felt more comfortable.

Doctors performed blood tests, x-rays and ultrasounds, but still couldn't find the root cause of his failing liver and immune system. In the meantime, Gsnap's health remained fragile.

Gsnap had his good days and bad days. But he never stopped fighting with his signature zest for life and adorable belly flops. This sweet lil goofball stayed in the hospital for five days, as doctors continued to run tests with the aim of reaching a formal diagnosis and starting more targeted treatment.

UPDATE: Gsnap was checked out of the hospital on the afternoon of Sunday, 28 November, given the poor prognosis, and how miserable he had become living in a glass box being poked and prodded. By this point, Gsnap had become a lot weaker, could no longer walk, and struggled to stand on his own. He was rather uncomfortable/in distress and thus quite unresponsive. But he still managed a feeble meow every time he saw cat mom Mira. Cat mom Mira was taught how to maintain the necessary care at home through tube feeding and under-the-skin fluids.

Gsnap was quite out of it but seemed happy/relieved to be out of the hospital and with his family. He spent the hour or so on the car ride back sat beside/slumped on momma Mira as she cooed at her brave boy and gave him all of the cuddles. Gsnap was finally a little more at ease and passed in the car, sat beside Mira with his paw on her leg. Just five minutes shy of them arriving back home.

Gsnap charmed every one he met with his tender soul, and inspired grace and kindness in those who loved him most. He will be dearly missed.

Cat mom Mira is struggling to cope with the medical bills as she is currently in between jobs. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, so that mama Mira can defray some of the costs incurred. Please see the last two images for the final costs of Gsnap's hospital treatment.

  • Mira and family loved Gsnap and gave him a loving home till the very end. Their kindness and compassion towards his last days should be an inspiration to all pet owners. Gingersnap brought joy to everyone the moment he entered the room. Meowing and tumbling around to announce his arrival. Always sweet and gentle. I have never ever seen him show a single sign of aggression or negativity in my whole time fostering him.

  • I am fostering with Luni and heard the story about G-Snap. I am really sorry :( Every time i read about it it makes me tear. It's so nice of you, that you took G-Snap home at the end and he could spend his last minutes in a loved environment.
