My name is Gian-Quen Isaacs a 18year old Figure Skater from Cape Town South Africa whose skating journey began at Junior Blades Ice Skating Club at The Ice Station at Grand West Casino and Entertainment World . I am currently a 7x South Africa National Champion & have represented South Africa at various International Training Camps & Competitions.

In 2019 I qualified my short program at the Junior Grand Prix ( A High level competition featuring up & coming athletes between the ages 13-19 with opportunities to qualify for Higher level competitions) Gdańsk Poland , with the intent of qualifying my free at further ISU competitions . However , due to Covid and not being able to compete Internationally for 2years , I will have to Qualify both Programs to attend Junior Worlds 2024 & later in the year , attend Senior competitions to Qualify for Four Continents. All stepping stones to represent South Africa at the Winter Olympics one day.

As I’ve matriculated last year & with discussion with my mom , we’ve decided it would be beneficial to take a GAP year to devote to my skating in preparation to Qualifying for Junior Worlds 2024 & Four Continents 2024/2025 respectively as for most of my Athletic Journey , I’ve had to juggle both Academics & Sport as a Full time learner. That being said , with my focus solely on qualifying, I’ve earned a selection to represent South Africa on the JGP circuit this year in Budapest Hungary in September.

With the assistance of my coach we’ve discussed, that in order to achieve these goals , I would have to train Internationally preceding the competition. That being said , getting funding for an individual athlete for figure skating is extremely difficult to the point of non -existent as Figure Skating is not well known in South Africa & I am appealing to the Public to pls assist as , coming from a single parent home the financial burden is devastating & my mom is currently not in a financial position to fund the training & competition & we urgently need to raise funds to get to competition.
