Sly is a six month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier. On the 28th February 2013 he was involved in a terrible freak accident at his home. He was playing a game with Mark, his owner's partner, that they always play together. Sly climbed onto a kitchen chair as he often does but then climbed onto the table and leaped off. Before Mark could reach out and grab him he landed awkwardly on the laminate flooring and broke his back right leg.
His owner, Tamara, rushed him to the vets. He is today (1st March 2013) undergoing an emergency operation to fit a metal plate in his leg. The total cost of the medical bill for his treatment will be in excess of £1000. Tamara had not yet taken out pet insurance as she is in the process of getting a DRO (Debt Relief Order) and has no spare finances at the moment.
The RSPCA have said they will pay for his treatment and aftercare. They have taken Sly into their care until Tamara can raise the money for the bill. However, they've also given her a deadline of five weeks, after this time they said they will have to consider re-homing him.
The whole family are devastated. Tamara's three year old daughter Latia is heartbroken and doesn't understand why Sly can't come home. Please help this family get their dog back!
