Hello there! My name is Audrey, and I'm a 20 year old awaiting to commence my studies at Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT). I'll be taking up a Bachelor of Business programme that lasts 3 years, and will be starting from July 2019. I'm interested in majoring in International Business. I received an unconditional offer from the university, and my entry results allowed me to be granted the Triple Crown Scholarship, deducting my yearly fees by 25%.

Throughout my short-lived lifetime, I've always known that my university course of choice would be one that could help others, even if it means in the most non-traditional ways. After looking into my interests, I decided a degree in business would help me achieve this goal of mine the most, especially when taking into account the number of start-up businesses here in Malaysia. Most of them have so much potential to soar to greater, worldwide heights, but are often hindered by the difficult process and the high amounts of money to do so. I wish to solve this someday.

This passion and enthusiasm has allowed me to score 10As in my SPM (the secondary school qualification equivalent to O-Levels), then later, an ABB grade in my A Levels. Though the score wasn't perfect, I was grateful to have also known that my 2Bs were one mere point away from 2As.

Despite that, my grades have kicked me away from the possibility of achieving any local scholarships for my intended oversea course of study. I do not fit into the criteria of the AAA student that most scholarships ask for, nor am I able to access scholarships for low income families. As a person from a middle income family, I'm stuck with two decisions: letting go of my dream or convincing my parents to believe in me.

They were gracious enough to support my dream. Unfortunately, kindness can only go so far and after forking out most of their savings onto the calculation table, we can only pay for the first two years of education at QUT. If I go without knowing whether I could pay for my third year, there is a risk I'd have to drop out of university. I've worked as a tutor for the past 4 months in hopes that I could earn enough money on my own to fund my education, but the measly RM600 I earn monthly isn't enough to make any major changes to the issue. Combined with the fact that my parents are also supporting my 2 younger and schooling sisters, as well as my close-to-80 year old grandparents, I have no other way to ensure I can safely graduate from my university of choice with our financial restrictions.

Studying overseas has been a life long dream of mine I've been working towards, and thanks to the beautiful universe, I received 5 different offers from all the universities I applied to in Australia. This includes the better-ranking University of Queensland & University of Western Australia, as well as other successful universities such as University of Technology Sydney & Macquarie University. I ultimately chose QUT because it put the least amount of burden on my parent's shoulders, and though it wasn't my first choice, it was a good choice nonetheless due to the quality of education I believe they can provide.

The 25% scholarship QUT generously offered with my results was as far as I could get myself. My parents are incapable of further supporting me past my 2nd year, and if all other meek plans fail, I may risk not graduating at all. Graduating from QUT would allow me the advantage of not only my degree, but also the experiences I pick up along the way with studying in a foreign country. I hope to one day be able to contribute to the society around me as much as it has contributed to me, a cliche-almost-textbook type of answer, but it's every bit of the truth.

This is where I reach out to you, the people of this world, for help to make this dream of mine come true. Every dollar and cent donated to me will be used for my final-year tuition fees at QUT, costing about 23,000AUD. The balance of said goal amount will be directed to other necessary needs for my living in Australia, mainly for renting accommodation and food costs. My heart goes out to all of you for your kindness, and even if you aren't able to donate to the goal, please share this around so this gets to other kind-hearted people. Thank you!
