Campaign Story
We need your help to pay for legal fees for 85-year- old Carmen Briscoe-Mitchell, who has lost her house to publishers Hodder and Stoughton after an unsuccessful libel battle over a misery memoir written by one of her children in 2006.
Since then, the daughter, Constance Briscoe, a former barrister and part-time judge, has been jailed and disbarred after being found guilty ofattempting to pervert the course of justice in a separate case involving MP Chris Huhne.
Police are also investigating after a number ofletters, which were submitted during the libel case, have been queried as the doctor who supposedly wrote them has said he only wrote two of them.
Please help to raise £15,000 for legal fees to appeal the libel case and win Carmen’s house back from the publishers in this David and Goliath fight.
Carmen isn't looking for compensation or fame; she just wants to enjoy her golden years in the security of her own home where her other children and grandchildren can visit.
