Hi my name is Gemma. I am only 12 weeks old and I was born with a genetic birth effect that doesn't allow me to make bowel movements correctly like other pups my age. I was bought for a Christmas gift and when my new parents learned of my disorder, they could not provide the care I needed so Braveheart Animal Rescue stepped in to help me! Unfortunately, I won't survive long if I can't get the surgeries I need to help me release the pain I am feeling.
I have a condition called atresia ani. This disease is uncommon and rare in dogs. I will find out what type I have from the doctor hopefully this weekend. Braveheart needs help to pay for this very expensive surgery. It can cost up to $5,000 depending on how severe my case is. I would appreciate anything to help me get this very vital and life saving surgery. I would hate to leave this life. I thank you all for everything.

Results of Scans and Surgery estimate
Update posted by Braveheart Animal Rescue at 04:13 pmWell Emma had her scans on Wednesday. The initial image shows a large amount of granular fecal material filling part of the colon. In layman terms she's full of poop. The good news is that unlike some other cases she does have a small hole that has formed to allow. . . . .
Estimate for scans and other testing
Update posted by Braveheart Animal Rescue at 01:04 amWe received the first estimate for Gemma. This estimate is for the the testing and scans needed to determine the severity of her defect. The upper limit includes CT imaging should the pneumocolonogram not give enough information for surgical mapping.As you will see there are two columns on the estimate,
