Many of you know that I am currently working on a masters in development practice at the University of Arizona. What is a MDP you ask? The University of Arizona’s MDP program is dedicated to decreasing the impacts of poverty worldwide through “enhancing well-being for the under-resourced and socially excluded.” MDP programs globally are dedicated to the work of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the fight against poverty, injustice, inequality, and climate change. The University of Arizona MDP program includes a summer practicum work project typically done abroad. I could not be more excited to be working with CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security, based in Nairobi, Kenya. I, along with two of my colleagues, will be developing an action plan and recommendations through a youth initiative on climate change adaptation.
So here is where I need your help. Flights to Nairobi range between $1600 - $2000 round trip and I will also still have to cover my rent in Tucson and everything in between with raising spawn. I appreciate any help that can be offered in this endeavor. I am excited to continue my master’s degree work, and this field practicum experience will be an incredible opportunity for me. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and consideration.
