Please help Sheila so she can get a lifesaving Kidney transplant.

Update posted by Quinn Rieman On Nov 13, 2021

It has been a while since the last update and again I thank everyone for all the help they gave Sheila to pay her previous expenses and get home to her family. Once again I must ask everyone if they can help once again. Sheila's kidneys no longer function properly and she is in need of a life saving kidney transplant. Thankfully, her younger sister can donate one of her kidneys but they are short of the funds needed to get the procedure completed. Of the cost of 1 million PHP (650,000 Thai Baht) they are about 150,000 baht short. Please help us to raise this last portion of the cost and allow Sheila to get the lifesaving transplant she do desperately needs. Thank you again and god bless.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to help Sheila pay her medical bills. Because of everyone's generosity we were able to pay a large portion of her hospital bills. We hope to have enough to pay the balance with the help of our friends. Sheila was released from the hospital and has returned to the Philippines for further treatment and to be reunited with her family and friends. She is now being treated at the National Kidney Center in Manilla. She has been seen by her doctor and given new medication. She will soon be released after her quarantine period is completed. Any funds received from now on, will be used to help Sheila pay the expenses of her ongoing treatment. Thanks again to everyone!

Good news since Sheila was well enough to be released from the hospital yesterday after nearly a month in the hospital. She will continue her treatment and soon return to her home country where she will get additional treatment. Thanks to everyone that has helped her to pay the hospital bills and send prayers and good wished. We have made a substantial down-payment on the hospital bill and and currently working to raise the additional funds to pay the remaining 130,000 baht in hospital bills. Thanks to everyone!

Sheila is overwhelmed and deeply grateful for all the support everyone has shown her. She is happy and hopeful because so many have helped her and care for her. She is looking forward to having her 4th of 7 plasma exchange treatments today as this will take her one step closer to being able to leave the hospital and return to the Philippines to be cared for by her family and receive needed on-going treatment at home.

Sheila started Plasma exchange therapy today. It will be done every other day for the next 14 days. A total of seven treatments. This is the treatment for Sheila's condition which is called crescentic IgA nephropathy." This is a condition that affects her kidney function. After the treatment the doctor hopes Sheila will be well enough to return home soon after. Thanks again for all your help. Sheila is appreciative beyond words. She is in good spirits and has been strong throughout her treatment in the hospital. Currently her hospital bills are now over 300,000 baht and climbing so your support is needed now more than ever!

Sheila is resting comfortably and continuing to progress positively. After the results of some tests she had today we hope for some positive news on her treatment. If all goes well she might be able to leave the hospital next week. I once again want to thank everyone for their support. I have made a deposit with the hospital for 20,000 baht as they have requested. Due to the generosity of all who donated that we were able to make this first payment towards her on-going care. Again, many thanks to everyone from myself on behalf of Sheila, her friends and family.

I spoke to Sheila this morning and she is sounding good. She is having a procedure tomorrow on her kidneys which will hopefully tell us the cause of her auto-immune disorder that is causing damage to her kidneys. If she improves, She could be out in a weeks time, otherwise she will be in longer. In any case she will need long-term on-going care which this campaign will support her in. Everyone's support has been overwhelming and I cannot thank you enough on behalf of Sheila. Thanks so much to everyone donating on-line and offline! Quinn
