I am Sakhile Maqina, 24, originally
from the Eastern Cape and I was
one of the homeless people
in Camps Bay who were offered an
opportunity to change my life for
good. I used to sleep under rocks on the Camps Bay
beachfront with only a blanket
and cardboard boxes to keep warm.
Moving off the streets was a
big opportunity for me and I grabbed it with both hands.
It feels really good to have
gotten this far.
I now have business and life skills, holding a humanitarian Award which I got from our MEC of Social Development, Mr Albrt Fritz at the academy. Studied IT, Public Administration and currently doing Entrepreneur and Political Studies. I worked as a Sales rep, Trainer at a Sales and Marketing company in Cape Town and fundraising for charity organisations. That’s how I managed to pay for most of my studies and accommodation fees at the time.
We opened and registered a Marketing Sales business which will train and employ people from disadvantaged backgrounds, student who are struggling and provide Marketing Sales tactics to these people so they can be able to manage their own companies.
We are appealing for your help on making this a reality. It’s a simple donation which will not just help me and my company grow. It will provide opportunities and jobs for all those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We would love to
help other homeless people get
off the street. It would be a great
