I'm appealing for assistance with my studies towards a 3-year Bachelor of Social Sciences degree at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I have been accepted by the university for 2020 with the first term starting on 1 February 2020. I want to major in Anthropology and Psychology.
I finished high school in December 1970. Coming from a poor background, I had to find work and could not study further after my school years. I was spammed out of my retirement funds by my last employer and due to age I am forcibly retired with a small monthly state pension. Now, 50 years later, I'm finally realizing my dream and thanks to a government bursary (still in application process) I am able to do so. The bursary should be approved due to my small government pension.
The bursary will cover most of the study fees and residence fees but will only kick in after my arrival in February. Study materials and food is also covered up to specific amounts, but I will still not have sufficient funds to cover everything. As example transportation from my home base 848 kilometers away is expensive; travelling home and back during holiday breaks. Ancillary costs such as clothing, computer, cellphone, etc also add up.
I am turning 67 in December and I believe as an older person I still have sufficient drive and determination to succeed and use my garnered business experience and knowledge obtained in social sciences to be of benefit to others. I would love to impart my knowledge through eventual lecturing to the youth of South Africa.
I would appreciate any amount you may be able to donate to assist me.
Thank you for reading.
