Help fund my rare disorder Neurofibromatosis Medical Expenses

When life throws you curveballs, it is comforting that you have family, friends, and concerned individuals who will be with you to go through it. As God’s instruments they are a constant reminder that though we are not in control, He leads and protects us. I am Katrina Mina, 34 years old, a home based English teacher and virtual assistant seeking prayers and financial help to deal with this circumstance I am faced with.

While I have been noticing physical changes in my body because of the bumps since college, I was just diagnosed recently with a rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis Type 1 or Type 2. Basically it is described to as certain types of tumors that form within a person’s body and brain. Acoustic neuroma, Meningioma, and Ependymoma are the most common types of the tumors I may aquire in the future.

Because it affects the nervous system, the most complications involve difficulties with vision, hearing, and balance. In some cases, numbness in the face, arms or legs may also occur.

At this point, there is no telling yet the extent of my condition as myriad of tests still have to be done. A known hospital because of my case’s rarity already offered to put me under their Health Service Program which entitles me to additional 20% discount. But the exhaustive diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests are not something I can pay in a whim.

With my brother having a rare brain condition as well, we have so little to allocate for our mounting medical expenses.

We are a family of optimistic and cheerful people however life becomes harder. But reality always kicks in that with nothing to finance our rare disorders, we may not see through it. There are no medicines or cure for both of us now. And so this is a lofelong treatment and medicatiom. But we always know that God loves and He never forsakes. We can do this with all your help.
