Funding Claudia’s Medical Volunteer Program in Costa Rica

My university has removed the requirement to study or volunteer abroad, so I am canceling my plans to volunteer in Costa Rica. I am currently working on receiving refunds for my flight, registration fee, and other purchases already made for this trip. Mi universidad ha eliminado el requisito de estudiar o ser voluntario en el extranjero, por lo que estoy cancelando mis planes para ser voluntario en Costa Rica. Actualmente estoy trabajando para recibir reembolsos por mi vuelo, tarifa de registro y otras compras ya realizadas para este viaje. Hi friends and family, thank you for your attention and time. I have started a fundraising campaign to help fund a volunteer program I will participate in this summer in Costa Rica. Volunteering or studying abroad is required for me to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at SDSU. In August this year, I will receive my degree with an emphasis in Physical Therapy, and Certificate in Health Communication. However, I will be receiving my diploma in May, one week before the Costa Rica volunteer program begins. Yay!

This healthcare volunteer program is based in community care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Costa Rica, specifically in Manuel Antonio. I will be acting in a shadowing or assisting role alongside local staff. I will help distribute medication, keep patients company, and assist with rehabilitation exercises, feeding, and bathing patients. Because I speak Spanish, I will have hands-on duties in assisting with check-ups, triage, taking vitals and preparing medical equipment. I will spend most of my volunteer work hours in elderly care facilities because of the genuine need for volunteer physical therapists. I am very excited about this opportunity but cannot finance it all on my own.

Please help make possible this incredible learning experience that will allow me to expand and apply my knowledge of health sciences to better serve my patients. Thank you, your help is very much appreciated.
