Help fund me to destroy the monopoly Rupert Murdoch has over the publication of modern bibles. I have a new one to rival the NKJV.

About this project

I have been working on this bible translation project for about ten years and have just completed the New Testament. While I have discovered that many people will roll their eyes at yet another English bible, I hope you will take time to hear what the reasons are for this project. I know that at present there is a glut of English bibles, but many are not focused upon complete accuracy.

I became a Christian twenty years ago, and at the beginning of my Christian walk I read the NKJV for several years, as it was the standard version for our church. Over the years I started to read the old KJV, because of strong voices within the church saying the KJV was the best translation. I found that the KJV was indeed accurate but very difficult to read. So went from the NKJV to the KJV for many years. Finally, I did an in depth study into the issue, and found about 500 errors in the NKJV. Some were very detrimental. One example:

The NKJV says that EVERYONE who came out of Egypt rebelled, but the KJV says that only SOME did. The KJV clearly says that “some” i.e. most of the older generation of Israel, “howbeit not all” meaning Joshua and Caleb, “did provoke.” Here is the KJV reading:

Hebrews 3:16 “For SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses.” (KJV)

But the NKJV clearly says ALL rebelled!

“For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, WAS IT NOT ALL who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?” (NKJV)

This is clearly mistranslated here and ruins the basic Old Testament historical narrative. With about 500 departures like this from the KJV in the NKJV, it warrants an overhaul.

Many people who are anti bible point out these kinds of inconsistencies in modern versions. So I have been working for 10 years to create a more accurate "New" King James Version that is actually is a KJV update with the readability of the NKJV. Rather than just harp about these issues, I felt it would be more productive to do something proactive about it and create a version without such problems.

An example of other side issues are changes to words like “assuredly” in the NKJV, whereas I have used “truly” which is a more understandable reading of the KJV's “verily,” and the Greek “Amen.”

Unfortunately Rupert Murdoch now has the rights for both the NIV and NKJV, and all efforts to have any errors changed in the NKJV (via James Price the NKJV OT editor) have gone unheeded. It is a real shame that the royalties of the word of God are going to such a man as Murdoch, as many know how corrupt he is. My plan is to make the new bible profits go towards printing bibles and towards bible translation work in other languages. Such a project should be “in house” and not a News Corp affair. Murdoch’s NKJV is still the third most popular bible, with the Murdoch’s NIV first and the KJV second. I am very confident with some decent funding the version I have been working on will rival the NKJV.

Unlike most other modern bibles, the PKJV version will have no copyright!

At present I have completed the New Testament and am working on the Old Testament now.

Printing the bible overseas would help lower costs. I know hundreds who want to buy a copy already.

Risks and challenges

I will let you know that I am busy, but busy people run the world.

Usually I fund myself on all my endeavors, mission trips, and projects. But the bible market is a rather large Goliath, and I am in Pakistan at the moment without my usual income. The budget for this project is a out of my league at present. Here is a bit of a rundown of other things I am doing and funding:

I am funding a full time pastor in Uganda and another man in his church to attend Bible College in Uganda to be ordained.

Funding four full time workers on this bible project (working on the tr.org.au website and numbering words for a Strong’s style dictionary to complement the version). Two of the workers are in the Philippines, one in Pakistan with me as a P.A. and Urdu bible translator, and one is in Cambodia, and also has been working on a Khmer bible New Testament based upon the NKJV for three years.

I run my own internet server in Sydney to host all the websites I work on. I usually go overseas two times a year either to PNG or Asia preaching. So as you can see, I am flat out doing all this.

At present I am in Pakistan for 3 months and will be focusing on the Old Testament.
