Campaign Story
One life-changing event can show you a different perspective on things and life in general. Sickness is just something you read on the news or the internet, until it's a doctor's diagnosis with your name or name of someone dear to you on it. Just recently, my girlfriend started her battle against Breast Cancer. Here's her story:
I'm Boni, 34 years old, and I am here to share my story.
July 2018, I was officially diagnosed with Stage 2B Invasive Mammary Carcinoma of no special type. I had a radical mastectomy and my right breast had to be completely removed. The whole process went too fast. From the initial consultation, to the series of laboratory tests, and even the very first surgery that I had to go through which was the excision biopsy, everything was hazy and I had to catch up in order to accept things as they are.
I tried my best to keep a cheerful and positive attitude throughout the process, but it was not as easy as it looks. There were days when I would just silently cry and would suddenly feel so incapacitated. I was so used to doing things on my own, I learned to be independent at such a young age. I never had any serious illness and I thought I was invincible.
It has been an uphill battle for me and my family for the past months. I am grateful to have undergone the surgery as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but that is just the first step towards my long journey towards full recovery.
Now that I am almost completely healed from my surgery, I will now undergo chemotherapy. I am scheduled for six cycles, with each cycle costing Php 20,000. On my 4th to 6th cycle, I will also start my targeted treatment since my FISH HER-2/neu report shows I am HER-2 gene positive. I am scheduled for 18 cycles for the targeted treatment, with each cycle costing Php 115,000.
My entire treatment's cost is overwhelming. That is why, I am trying my best to look for ways to support it. I am very determined to beat this disease and it would be a huge help if you can join me by donating to this campaign. Every amount would mean everything to me. Your donations, no matter how small, will definitely go a long way to pay for my treatment, bills, and other medical expenses. Thank you!
Boni hopes with your help, she can overcome this big challenge ahead of her.
