A strong and healthy man - as everyone would've thought he was until last June when pain had stricken him. A pain that he could no longer tolerate; thus led to hospitalization. Little did we know that it would lead to very expensive operations and procedures.
After the initial observation, he was diagnosed to have had inflamed gallbladder - reason why the doctors performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy, although there weren't gallstones identified present. A couple of days after, he was already discharged. We all thought that the initial operation would have cured him, however instead of getting better by the day, it was in fact the opposite... He felt more pain in his gut that made it very difficult to breathe and he was having jaundice - which was the reason he was rushed back to the hospital. With the doctors not very transparent of what was going on, they ran series of tests and decided to perform a major surgery: ExplorLap - this was an open surgery to technically explore the affected area to determine what was the liquid leaking in the abdominal cavity. In that second operation, there were drainage attached to his stomach: T-Tube drain attached to his common bile duct to prevent the bile from overflowing inside his body and a JP Drain which was used to speed up the healing process of the incision. He was also diagnosed with Pneumonia with liquid on both of his lungs and luckily Pneumonia was cured with antibiotics. As we were all still clueless, not to mention, penny-less, we were all waiting for results - hence, we were advised of the next procedure: ERCP - this will remove the blockage in the bile duct which caused the jaundice and bile leak. As we did not clearly understand the reasons why, we opted to seek yet a second opinion from a different doctor at a different hospital - there was at least a better explanation of why and what happened and what should have been done... And yes, ERCP is still recommended and in fact should have been the first procedure that should have been performed. With the financial help from our relatives and friends, we went to Pampanga as the procedure is not available in Tarlac. We were all looking forward to it as it would've cured him, but only God knows why, we weren't too lucky - the machine got busted, there were no backups... It was sad but it was uncontrollable...

In disbelief and disappointment, the doctor had to refer him to another hospital in Manila (Manila Doctor's Hospital) but was advised to take a rest first and gain back some weight... Now though that has gotten better physically, he is ready to go through the ERCP procedure in Manila where we're as sure as the doctors are that there are backups and complete facilities, we are being hindered by financial difficulties. Yet again, we are knocking on your hearts to help him go through this last procedure... All resources including loans and donations from friends and colleagues were exhausted . We are still in dire need of help.We all want to see the strong guy he used to be for his kid... What we do and what we give makes a difference.
