I am a 56 years old single father to 5 young children. We currently live in a foreign country, as refugees. I come from the Democratic Republic of Congo. After getting a job in Kenya in 2012, I managed to travel my children from Burundi where they were living.
Now I have been unemployed since Oct. 2018. In fact, the university I was working for as a lecturer, during the last 6 years, has suddenly ended my contract: expensive work permit issue (Ksh 400,000.00 that's ~ $3,952). It was being paid by the university which now, apparently for financial reasons, cannot afford anymore.
Under my current conditions, I am honestly unable, right now, to obtain this permit to seek a new job which could help us subsisting to our needs as family and mostly to my children’s education urgent ones. I have no income generator source or activity,…and absolutely no investment.
The expenses we have been facing include: rent, water & electricity bills, medical care, transportation, catering, school fees & materials; miscellaneous including tutoring plus some pocket money.
All parameters being considered, I estimate an average value of $ 7,000.00 as my current funding requirement to cover the annual expenses related to the education of my 5 children.
One of my 2 children who are already in high school should join the university next year; the other 3 are still in primary school. By the way, let me mention how bright they are! They thus need a lot of encouragement. I am actually fighting my best to avoid them experiencing any frustration or, the worse, any discontinuity in their education process, due to lack of finances.
That's the main reason why I am expressing my need of funds as relevant as urgent, please; kindly understand, kindly help.
I am extremely concerned about the difficult living conditions -[it's a serious hassle]- that this situation imposes on us. I am concerned about all the impact this situation has on my children, especially on their school safety, on their physio-physical & psychological health, as well as on their intellectual performance.
Allow me to sincerely thank you so much for your time that you allocated to read my story up to its end. I also take into consideration the interest and all the compassion that you have given to my story. I’m touched, believe me.
In my own name and on behalf of my children, I highly appreciate in advance the help that you will be able to offer to this cause.
God bless you!Louis
