Help For Oatmeal’s Iternational Adoption Cost.

Oatmeal is one of the most loving and caring dogs I have ever met. She is currently a dog at the Cayman Island Humane Society. I moved to the Cayman Islands for work and started volunteering at the Humane Society and over the course of time I met Oatmeal and we actually met the morning after she was surrendered to the shelter by her previous owners. Oatmeal and I instantly bonded and she gave me probably 2,000 kisses in the 1st week I spent with her. It is thought that she might have been used as a breading dog on island and she did have puppies at one time, before her previous owners dropped her off and left the island. I am wanting to rescue Oatmeal and the people who know me and have met her with me on the beach in Cayman know this dog loves me and she's a missing piece of my family. I had to leave the island so I am working with the Humane Society to internationally adopt her. She is a mix, but since she might have some Staffordshire Terrier in her it means her breed could be classified as aggressive (Pit Bull) which is far from the truth, she is a very loving and caring dog.

-The funds will go to help cover the cost of a special metal kennel so she can be transported, estimated cost for this alone is $700 according to the airline companies to accommodate flight regulations. Next up is cargo space (Doggy plane ticket), International Adoption Fees, ID Chip, License Fee in USA, Vaccines (shots), Spaying Cost, Heartworm Treatment since she is currently being treated for heartworm, Food/Water Supplies For Travel, Leash and a Bed for inside the metal kennel.

-I am looking to have her flown into Houston, TX since it is the closes area for me to be able to get her to where I will be or the Humane Society tends to work with an airline that fly's into Miami with animals which might be easier to get her into the states, but then the overall cost will significantly increase and I will have to travel a far distance to pick her up (gas/hotel, estimated 2,300 round trip miles of driving.

-I'm hoping to raise $1,500 to help cover the cost, but it could be more or less. If more funds are raised my plan is to donate it to the Cayman Island Humane Society to help with their operational cost. While on the island I spent a lot of my free time going to the Humane Society and visiting a lot dogs and during that time I got to see first hand what the staff and volunteers deal with on a daily basis and any additional assistance they can receive will help. Right now Oatmeal has to share a kennel with 2 other dogs and the Humane Society is extremely over crowded. I'm wanting to adopt her and give her a forever home with me. I've had dogs growing up and then I didn't have one for years and Oatmeal is one I have formed a special bond with and we both help each other be happy in life. I love spending time with her, taking her for walks and playing with her, but currently since I'm away I'm not able too. :(. Please help if you can or share this page so others can help if they would like too. When I was on island Oatmeal would spend 5-6 days a week with me. Going from basically being a doggy foster dad to a 3 year old teenage/early 20's doggy years dog full of life to not being able to see her is sad. My goal is to hopefully be able to get all of the funds raised and travel lined out to be able to get Oatmeal in the next 2 weeks.
