Help for my elderly parents

PLEASE HELP MY ELDERLY PARENTS FIND PEACE OF MIND IN THE HOME OF THEIR DREAMS!

If you are the son or daughter of parents who have spent their lives trying to make sure that you have a safe (and hopefully prosperous) life, you can relate to my deep to desire to help my parents in their time of need.

My mother and father live in Azerbaijan, the 'Land of Fire' – a tangle of contradictions and contrasts. The country is a nexus of ancient historical empires, but it is also a ‘new’ nation rapidly transforming itself. My parents live in a house that was built more than 100 years ago for oilfield workers. The houses built for this purpose are substandard in terms of even the very basic decent living conditions. Their home has only two windows, which are generally kept closed to avoid the relentless dust drifting in from outside; the high degree of dampness has led to mold in all of the rooms; the roof leaks in all seasons; and there is an inconsistent fresh water supply.

According to our city’s reconstruction plan, their home is now designated for imminent destruction.

My parents are trying to take this situation as an opportunity to build a modest, new house in the suburban area of Baku – a Zabrat settlement that has more physical space and will offer them a healthy environment in their elderly years. My mother has a heart condition, and their new home will allow her access to more fresh air since it will have a backyard where she can relax and enjoy the gifts that nature offers. After many years of living in small flats that have been overly crowded, they yearn to live in their own house, grow plants, keep pets, have guests, have more free space for themselves.

And I yearn to help them enjoy their remaining years in comfort.

My parents have worked very hard to build their new home in time so that they won’t have to spend another winter in their current home before it is demolished, but as of now, the construction is only half completed.

This is why I am reaching out you for help. They now need about 50,000 USD to complete the final phases of construction.

I know that there are many other causes on crowdfunding sites worthy of your support, but I truly believe that our ‘elders’ deserve the love, the respect, and the comfort that they have gaven to us.
