Campaign Story
I'm a 24 year old male with a debilitating condition called thyroid eye disease.
The disease has resulted in bad swelling in and around my eyes, causing redness, pain and severe strain on a daily basis.
It has also caused the skin above my eyes to protrude to such an extent that it is becoming difficult to keep my eyes open.
I am unable to work or socialize as I did before, as long periods without closing my eyes cause them to become unbearably painful and bloodshot.
Although it is highly unlikely, there is also a slight chance of loss of vision.
I have tried multiple avenues to alleviate the pain, including medicine, eye drops and massage, but none have helped.
I have been informed that a surgical procedure by the name of orbital decompression is my only option, but there is no free healthcare here.
It is very difficult for me to work on a regular basis due to the condition, so I cannot afford the procedure.
The total cost for surgery on both eyes would likely be about 12,000 Euro, but I am hoping to simply raise as much money as possible.
Any donations would be both helpful and incredibly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
