Help for Mohamad

After three long weeks of fruitless attempts to get assistance from humanitarian organisations, I am kindly asking for your help to support a 23 year old boy who shared with me, probably, the worst moment of his life.

I had never met him before, and suddenly found myself waiting by his side for 20 long minutes, for an ambulance to arrive.

Three weeks ago, during my stay in Turkey, I saw Mohamad dive into the sea one Sunday morning. I saw him break the fifth vertebra in his neck...

After witnessing such an experience, it was not possible to pretend that the matter did not concern me. I was also aware of the fact that there was no one but me capable of asking for help for this boy.

As a Syrian refugee, he only has the right to emergency treatments and procedures. He is not entitled to any other form of medical assistance within Turkey.

Once out of the Intensive Cares Unit, he will be forced to leave the hospital. His family currently live in the refugee camp in Syria; hopefully they will manage to enter Turkey via Lebanon...if not, then he will be left to fend for himself.

Mohamad needs all the help he can get, for he and his family have nothing.

Please help me to support Mohamad and his family in these desperate times of total helplessness due to their social status. I ask for your support to cover the cost of the medical equipment and procedures needed to keep him alive. I have contacted numerous associations that, unanimously, responded that they are regretfully unable to help. Seeing no alternative, I decided to take matters into my own hands have created a solidarity fund.

Some may say that the world is full of suffering, and that we cannot help everybody. But we can certainly try to help someone. And Mohamad is my, OUR, someone.
