The Philippines and Covid-19
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the entire northern Philippine island of Luzon has been put under enhanced quarantine or lockdown. Meanwhile, hundreds of medical front-liners continue to work 24/7, battling a deadly virus in hospitals - many of which are underfunded, understaffed and lacking in protective medical supplies such as masks, gowns and isopropyl alcohol.
While caring for patients, medical front-liners are seeing valuable members of their team either fall sick or enter quarantine, resulting in many working overtime and dealing with exhaustion. While waiting for supplies, they have had to improvise with garden gloves and raincoats.
We are asking for help in raising funds for the unsung heroes, the medical front-liners. Funds will be directed to Red Cross Philippines and Philippine College of Physicians - Northern Luzon Chapter to help source and supply Luzon hospitals with the following medical supplies:
- N95 masks
- Surgical gloves
- 3 ply mouth masks
- Alcohol spray / alcogel
- Face shield / disposable eye shields / goggles
- Disposable non-woven gowns
- Disposable hoods
- Disposable shoe covers
How You Can Help
If you have money to spare, a small donation can go a long way. CAD$10 is about PHP400 / USD$10 is PHP500, which can be used to buy boxes of medical supplies.
If you don’t have money to spare, we understand, but please spread the word, share or direct people to our GoGetFunding page or to any of the links below supporting charities accepting donations for medical front-liners.
