Luz Aboran has been our house helper for 15 years. She is fondly called "Nanay" or mother by my 4 kids. To us, she is family. Her service with us has to end abruptly this April because of her decision to go back to her hometown - Tuguegarao City. She will devote her time to the care of her bedridden parents. Both are of old age, the mother is blind and weak and the father is suffering from respiratory problems. Occasionally, they have to be brought to the hospital.
Throughout the years, her pay has increased to Php10,000 ($210) a month. A meager amount in other countries but it is equivalent to the salary of 3 house helpers here in the Philippines. Our rationale is that the service and care she provides to my family cannot be equaled by any amount. A professional in her own way.
The savings she has and the parting money we will give will not be enough to sustain their needs for the coming months. She may need to do hard labor in the nearby mountain which breaks our hearts more in comparison to the sadness we are feeling with her leaving.
Funds that will be acquired will go to the medical expenses of her parents and the rest to add to her retirement fund. Updates will be posted.
Thank you so much in advance!
