Help for little Castiels Heart Surgery

November 14 - Third Update

Mixed news after yesterdays visit to the Philippine Heart Center here in Cebu. It seems that Castile can get operated there via charity and that would reduce the families cost a lot. But its oral consent only for now so there's still uncertainty.

But before an operation Castil has to undergo cardiac catherization and we got a schedule for that for february 5th 2020. Now we all hope that this date will hold.

Until that date Candy and Castil will spend the upcoming weeks over christmas with JoJos family in Barili.

Castil has to continue to take her medication. To check her blood oxygen level I bought them a pulsoxymeter and it clearly shows that caused by the large defekt fresh blood is mixing with used blood and thus her blood misses 20% oxygen compared to a healthy person.

November 9 - short 2nd Update

On Friday the family went to pray at Simala Shrine in Cebu. This has become a holy place in Cebu after the mysterious shedding of tears of the Mother Mary’s image there. Since then devotees constantly flock the area and Simla shrine has become popular like Lourdes in France as thousands of gratitudes are proof of mysterious healings that took place.

November 8 - 1st update:
PhilHEalth told us that they would cover 20% when going to a public hospital.
In a private Hospital we had to additional cover for the doctors Fee. So even we find a public hospital we still would need at leat 5000$. Plus all our actual expenses like for Castiels needed medicine.

Charity organisations told us that they only donate when we show them the final bills. So we might get a money back from them but still we have to pay the hospital in Advance.

Next week wednesday JoJo will line up at 5am to hopefully get an appointment at the Philippine HeartCenter at Vincente Sotto public hospital.

A german doctor in manila recommended us 4 hospitals in manila. So after next wednesday appointment we will discuss our next steps. As castiel sure is denied to fly the family will have to go to manila by ferry and stay with relatives there for a while.

Castiels medication for the raised pressure in her lungs and her heart costs 2500php (50$) each month.

Campagne startet November 5 2019

Little Castiel will be 3 years old in January 2020. She is the daughter of my girlfriends Cousin. We seek support because she urgently needs a life saving heart surgery.

Funding campaign was startet in Nov. 2019 after we got a first estimate from a specialized pediatric from a private hospital. BesidesGoFundMewe started looking out for support from local charities, politicians e.g. too.

Castiel lives with Candy her mother in the province of Panglao (Bohol). Her FatherJoJo works as an aircon technician here in Cebu-City and lives with his father. He earns around 350$ a month.

Candyactually is 3 month pregnant and the baby is expected for may 2020.

Castiel was born with a inherent ventricular septal defect of her heart that unfortunately wasn't discovered earlier. It is a large defect and the pediatrist told the family that without surgery Castiel will certainly not reach the age of 12 years.

An open heart surgery is therefore necessary but the only specialists available are in Manila and the cost is estimated about 800.000php (15.000$). But with a monthly income of just 300$ the family can't manage this alone.
But even with charity the family has to cover the cost for Castils monthly medication, outpatient cost and travelling between province and Cebu-City.

Therefore I started this campaigne to ask for support.

I will regularly give updates about what we are doing and cost that has been paid already.
