These two charities are ones that i am passionate about helping. I have been trying to raise money for them but have been unsuccessful, mainly because I can't get enough funding for a decent fundraiser. SO i want to do a fundraiser at my previous school's Christmas Fair (I know, long time away, but I'm preparing early and trying to give as much time as possible for donations to come in. I'm not sure what I want to do yet, but I know I want something with good return, and that won;'t necessarily come cheap. All monies raised and left over from this fundraiser will be split 50-50 between the charities.
And thus, I introduce the charities. I have given a URL for the website of each; I'd highly recommend going to the websites, as they'll be the ones who can best represent their cause and their charity.
Help for heroes- www.helpforheroes.org
Soldiers constantly put themselves in mortal danger trying to defend our cause, if not the whole country. And all too often they are horribly injured, paralysed and or losing limbs. Help For Heroes is there to give them hope; help arrange physiotherapy, get them interested in sport, interested in life and life after war. Helping veterans get back up and live their lives as best they can.
Katharine House Hospice- www.katharinehouse.co.uk
The main purpose of Katharine House Hospice is help those who are ill, possibly terminally ill, to remain independent as long as they can, and generally improve their quality of life when they are not responsive to the treatment that could cure the illness. They have in-patients, run a day hospice, communmity care at home, and bereavement support for when the families have to move on. This is so important for the people referred here; gives them a chance to live out their last days, not vegetate, and possibly even live where they may have died if they were left in a home, waiting for their last breath. Their work is crucial for those who need it.
There are "rewards" available; but the main reward should be how you can help these charities to continue their life saving, life improving work.
