Help for Families in Benguet affected by ECQ!

Where can your 50 pesos bring you?

Our country, the Philippines has been put under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) early March due to the virus outbreak, which means, all kinds of public transportation, most jobs, and establishments (except food and drug-related ones) were shut down. The immediate result is the families caught unprepared suffer much life difficulty. As for me, I am a home-based online English teacher, thus, my life and routine didn't change that much when the ECQ was implemented.

My mission to help the other families started when I received a phone call early this month. It was just 3 weeks since the ECQ started. The caller was a neighbor, and she was begging to borrow some rice because her kids have not eaten yet, and it was almost night time. Without any hesitation, I rushed to their house and brought not only rice but also some fine food for the kids. Then the other neighbors heard about it, prompting them to try their luck as well to ask help from me. Of course, I personally checked their situation before sending help, and yes, I almost cried to see how desperate they are to get by everyday with their babies' milk and food. After helping my needy neighbors, since my salary day was almost approaching, I asked my son's kindergarten teacher to refer 5 families who are really in need. Thanks to her, I was able to contact 5, but then each of them asked if they can refer others, as there are many other families in their rented houses, and also neighbors who have no food, and worst, haven't received any government relief money or goods. I have successfully helped maybe a hundred, but there are thousands more, crying for help.

As I continue helping people with the small food packs that my family prepares, I came to realize that many families are affected by this ECQ. The more I help, the more needy ones contact me. I am trying to help the poorest among the poor, but in this time of crisis, everyone seems to be really poor.

I only fund my charity drive from my meager salary as a teacher. I just cannot bear to see other kids crying of hunger, while my kids are enjoying their well-prepared food. I almost dream every night of the crying babies who are so hungry. Thus, I appeal to your kind hearts to please help more families get by until this pandemic is gone.

the food pack that I prepare usually consists

2 kg of rice, 6 pc. 3-in-1 coffee, 1 loaf of bread and 1 kilogram chicken meat. It costs around 5 dollars per pack. My aim is to provide 100 food packs per month. Thus, I am aiming to raise 500 dollars in a month. Your 1 dollar may mean a lot to a family. I believe that there are many people out there who still uphold humanity.

저희 나라 필리핀은 코로나 바이러스 발생으로 인해 3월 초부터 강력한 지역사회 격리(ECQ)가 시행되었습니다. 이는 모든 종류의 대중교통, 대부분의 일자리, 시설(식품과 약품 관련 시설 제외)들이 폐쇄되었다는 것을 의미합니다. 이로 인해 격리생활에 전혀 대비를 못한 채 격리된 많은 가족들이 큰 어려움을 겪게 되는 상황이 대거 일어나고 있습니다. 저는 가정형 온라인 영어교사로, 다행히 강력한 지역사회 격리(ECQ)의 시행으로 인한 저의 생활과 일과는 큰 지장은 없습니다.

다른 힘든 가족들을 도와주는 저의 임무는 이달 초 한 전화를 받고나서 시작되었습니다. 이는 강력한 지역사회 격리(ECQ)가 시작된지 불과 3주만이었습니다. 전화를 건 사람은 제 이웃이었는데, 그녀는 아이들이 아무것도 먹지 못해서 그러니 쌀을 조금 빌릴 수 있냐고 저녁 늦은 시간에 전화하여 애원하였습니다. 어떠한 망설임도 없이 저는 제 이웃의 집으로 달려가 쌀뿐만 아니라 그 아이들에게 줄 음식들도 가져갔습니다. 그 소식을 들은 다른 이웃들 또한 저에게 도움을 청하기 시작했습니다. 물론 저는 개인적으로 도움을 주기 이전에 그들의 상황이 얼마나 힘든지 다 확인했으나, 그들이 아이들의 우유와 음식을 얻기 위해 매일같이 얼마나 발악하는지를 보며 저는 거의 울뻔했습니다. 도움이 필요한 제 이웃들을 도와준 후, 제 월급날이 거의 다가오자 저는 아들의 유치원 선생님께 정말 어려운(도움이 필요한) 다섯 가족을 추천해달라고 부탁드렸습니다. 감사하게도, 저는 그 다섯 가족과 연락할 수 있었는데, 그때마다 그들은 모두 그들이 다른 사람들도 문의할 수 있는지 물어보았습니다. 집에서 격리된 다른 많은 가족들은 식량도 없고, 가장 안타까운 상황의 이웃들은 정부의 구호금이나 구호품조차 받지 못한 사람들이었습니다. 저는 이미 약 100명의 이웃들을 성공적으로 도왔으나, 도움이 필요해 울고 있는 수천명의 가족들이 여전히 더 있습니다. 저희 가족이 준비하는 작은 음식꾸러미들로 이웃들을 도우면서, 저는 수많은 가족들이 강력한 지역사회 격리(ECQ)의 영향을 받고 있다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 제가 도움의 손길을 내밀수록, 더 많은 도움이 필요한 사람들이 제게 연락하고 있습니다. 저는 모두가 힘든 상황에서 가장 도움을 받기 힘든 사람들을 추려 도우려고 노력을 하고 있지만, 이 최악의 재난 상황 속 그들은 모두 힘겨워보입니다

저는 그저 교사로서 받는 보잘 것 없는 봉급에서 이 자선 사업의 자금을 대고있습니다. 저는 다른 아이들이 영양가 있는 음식들을 먹는 동안 또다른 아이들은 배고파서 우는 것을 차마 볼 수가 없습니다. 저는 매일 밤 배가 너무 고파 우는 아이들이 나오는 꿈을 꿉니다. 그러므로 저는 당신의 친절한 마음에 부디 이 전염병이 사라질 때까지 도움이 간절히 필요한 가족들을 도와주시기를 간곡히 호소합니다.

제가 기본적으로 제공하는 음식 패키지는 다음과 같이 구성됩니다.

-쌀 2kg 6팩

-인스턴트 커피

-빵 한 줄

-닭고기 1kg.

패키지 하나에 5달러정도의 비용이 듭니다.

저의 목표는 한달에 100개의 음식 패키지를 제공하는 것입니다. 즉 저는 한달에 500달러 정도의 기부금이 필요로 합니다. 당신의 1달러가 수많은 가족들에게는 정말 큰 의미가 됩니다.
