My name is Mitch.

If you have come across this page, I believe you have a heart willing to help those in need in any possible way that you can. With that, I’m grateful. Hoping you’ll hear me out until the end.

I am raising money for my mother, Emy Mempin, who has a suspected coronary-pulmonary artery fistula and needs to urgently undergo a procedure called embolization of the fistula. Coronary artery fistulas are very rare congenital anomalies which constitute 0.2 to 0.4% of all cases of congenital heart diseases. Mommy already suffered two heart failures, a condition in which the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. We almost spent Christmas Day at the hospital since Mommy got admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a week from December 11, 2019. She had to be intubated after suffering from her second heart failure accompanied by a mild stroke. Aside from this, Mommy also suffered from eye stroke and can’t see properly up to this moment. We were advised by the doctor to observe her condition until March this year. If her eyes won’t function again normally, an eye operation might also be needed.

On February 21, I brought my mother to her long-time cardiologist and presented her Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) results to him. After examining the results, silence ensued. The cardiologist gave a serious look, which pierced my heart as I began hearing him saying that my mother’s case is already an emergency situation. Mommy’s heart function is now just at 20%. Her blood pressure has been decreasing and unstable these past days and she’s been feeling dizzy and weak. Having quality sleep has been almost impossible to achieve too due to her breathing difficulties. The doctor emphasized that surviving another heart failure might not be probable anymore, so we should act fast.

As a daughter who has always depended on my anchor and my shield from life’s challenges, it pains me to witness her sufferings. No mother, who has given her all to offer a good life to her children, deserves this. Mommy has made a lot of sacrifices for her parents and siblings as well as for me and my brother. Rest seems not to be in her vocabulary as she’s been working seven days a week to provide not just for our family, but for our relatives in need as well. She’s been supporting the education of her late brother’s sons especially the middle child, who is currently in first year college. The strength that she possesses is what I most admired from her. Mommy just turned 60 last December 9, two days prior to her heart failure. She’s the only one taking care of my 84 years old grandmother who has dementia. My grandmother is also bedridden and she can only remember the name of my mother. She’s like a child who doesn’t even recall using utensils properly and needs a lot of attention and care. The love I have received and witnessed from both of my mother and grandmother is what I’m striving to see for a longer period of time.

For us to achieve that goal in mind, I am humbly asking for your financial assistance. Any amount your heart is willing to give in helping my mother extend her fight and survival will be sincerely appreciated. Our family will continuously pray for your kindness to be given back to you in other ways a hundredfold.
