Campaign Story
My name is Kimberley Renicks and I am a Scottish International Judo player fighting for Great Britain. I am the Commonwealth Champion and was the first athlete to win a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games which were held in Glasgow, 2014. My fighting weight is -48kg and I am now in the process of qualifying for the Olympics
I am on the Great Briatin Squad and ranked Number 1 ( britishjudo.org), ranked Number 1 in the Scotland Squad (judoscotland.com) and I am currently ranked number 55 in the World (eju.net).
For my dream of qualifying for the World & European Championships and Olympics to be fulfilled I have to self-fund numerous judo competitions and camps.
As judo is a minority sport I rely heavily on working in schools on a weekly basis, local sponsorship and local clubs to help fund and support me.
From august to November I have various World Cup, Grand Slam and Grand Prix events to compete in. Each one of these events will be attended by Olympic competitors and as every athlete in the World is now competing to qualify for these Championships, I will now have to move 35 places higher in the World ranking in order to make another one of my dreams come true. This is estimated to cost me £3000 pounds, this includes, competitions, hotel, flights, camps, and equipment.
I am a full time athlete who is part of the National Training Squad and my training facilities are based in Camberley and Glasgow. I train 6 days a week, twice a day also have to find work in between sessions to help fund my Judo. I am a hard working, passionate, determined and self motivated athlete who gives back to my sport at every opportunity as well as doing work in the communit to try & inspire the next generation and I believe in helping others and promoting healthy living. I am asking could you please support my World and European dream 2019/2020 and help in any way you can.
Thanks, Kimberley.
