About Our Girl Let me quickly introduce you to CC (Sienna). She's a purebred Vizsla that just turned 2 last week (September 25th). CC has been a part of our family since she was 8 weeks old. She will bowl you over with jumps and kisses at the door and almost smother you with cuddles once she's settled on the couch or into bed with you. They call Viszla's "Velcro Dogs" and CC is most certainly the poster dog for this title.            Her Medical Situation Other than feeling under the weather here and there, CC has been a happy and healthy companion. Recently, things have changed. 2 weeks ago we rushed CC to the Emergency Vet because of a huge growth that appeared under her neck. After an x-ray and examination, they couldn't tell us what it was, but determined it wasn't life-threatening, but she had to go on pain killers and antibiotics. The first round of antibiotics seemed to 'help' but it didn't resolve the problem. Upon coming home a few days later, it had more than doubled in size. I rushed her to the vet where they did another examination, took a sample, and did an ultrasound. The vet was able to identify the cause of the swelling as Salivary Mucocele (see https://www.acvs.org/small-animal/salivary-mucocele for a complete description). A condition that our vet claims he sees only 3-4 times a year. The only cure; surgery. And a costly one at that. Due to all of the facial nerves and jugular veins being in the area they would need to remove, the surgery is very intensive and delicate = expensive.        (Growth near back of mouth and under throat)   Why We Need Your Help Not that there is ever a good time, but this news about our 'fur baby' was 'delivered' to us 2 weeks before I'm due to deliver our first baby. My husband and I are currently expecting our little guy any day now and the finiancial blow of a $3500 estimate is a little more than overwhelming.  The initial trip to the emergency vet cost us: $565.00. The follow up appointment to our regular vet cost: $589.00. So before the surgery has even happened, we've had to come up with over $1000.00! The money we are so humbly hoping to raise would not be to compensate for this money spent, it would go directly toward the cost of the surgery and medication required afterward.  We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read about our baby girl and thank you sincerely in advance for your well wishes and support if you are able to do so. With sincere thanks,Laura, Chris, CC and Baby Riley (coming soon!)
