Campaign Story
My name is Hassan, I live in Marrakech, Morocco with my wife Dounia and two-year-old daughter, Jana.
Until March of this year I was working as the manager of a small boutique hotel in the Marrakech medina. I was able to support my family and plan for our future. COVID-19 abruptly put a stop to that - Morocco closed its borders to tourists and all tourism related jobs were suspended.
My wife and I were already expecting our second child in September. Due to complications at birth, our first child was born by caesarean section and in order to protect the health of my wife and our new baby, our doctor has strongly advised for birth by caesarean section for our second child.
Unfortunately the cost of a caesarean birth is not covered by our health insurance plan, even though it has been deemed essential by our doctor.
We have a small amount of savings left which we can pay towards the operation, but the remainder we are hoping to raise with the generous help of friends and the wider community. We will be eternally grateful for any support offered.

Hassan, I still fondly remember our interactions at the riad. I so enjoyed the cooking lesson when you took my phone and tripod and documented everything, it was so much fun. I wish your wife good health, and your whole family too. It’s so exciting you’re welcoming a second child!
