Campaign Story
This is a sad sad story that just makes no sense and in trying to understand, I realise that I have a responsibility to help and ask for your help.
Robert is the most amazing gentleman who has been working in my home in Zimbabwe for 30 years plus. He has 3 wonderful daughters who always have each others backs and who always have a smile on their faces despite the difficulty of living in Zimbabwe.
6 months ago, the middle sister, Tracy gave birth to a perfect little daughter who was named Nicolette. This little package brought smiles to us all.
TRACY, MOM AND NICOLETTE
On our last trip back to visit my parents we delighted in this cute little thing and saw a dedicated mom, learning the ropes from her big sister, with everyone helping out. As a tradition on my trips to Zimbabwe I take a stroller that is donated to me to then pass on to a new mom who could use it. This time it was my stroller, having been a faithful chariot for 12 years, and little Nicolette was the recipient.
ROBERT, SIENNA, JORJA, TRACY AND BABY NICOLETTE
How beautiful it was to see the love that Robert had for the new addition to his family.
THEN, all the happiness and joy came to a very shocking halt.
Last week, Tracy took Nicolette to her home in the rural areas, to be with her grandmother and other extended family.
During a Baptism ceremony, in a river, as is the tradition, Tracey drowned.
We are not exactly sure what happened, but it is possible that the previous heavy rains have played havoc with the river bed and there was a hole that Tracey fell into.
Our hearts are broken, and we wrap all our comfort and love around Robert and his family at this terrible time.
Tracy was breastfeeding and the immediate concern is feeding Nicolette and this is where I ask for help.
Baby formula is very expensive in Zimbabwe and I am asking for any donations that will go towards this and any extra towards all the other essentials babies need.
Fortunately Nicolette has unending love, but nothing will ever be able to replace her mother's love and if at this trying time some kind of relief can be given to the family, it will make them stronger and go forward as best they can.
Any amount will be appreciated, I know Nicolette definitely will be appreciative and I am sure so will Tracey, now looking out for her baby from way up high.

Happy Birthday Angel Tracy

Small Piece of Paper with a Big Story
Update posted by Simone Broomberg Labe at 03:38 pmThe simple piece of paper above comes with a complex tale.As a birth certificate was not yet issued for Nicolette, Robert, Nicolette's father and I went on a mission to get this done. And only after standing in line in 5 different offices, both in Kezi and Bulawayo, each time being. . . . .
Making Life Easier
Update posted by Simone Broomberg Labe at 03:04 pmWhen I asked Robert what else is needed for Nicolettes care, he asked for a flask, into which the boiled water could be placed, in order to cool down enough to put into the feeding bottles. This was purchased along with baby bottles to supplement the 3 bottles they are. . . . .
