Dear friends !
This year has not been very kind to all of us, full of unexpected events and challenging months ...
Like many places, Flashback Tattoo is in a very difficult position at this point. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic and its repercussions, studio is experiencing financial troubles, and perhaps we are also threatened with a complete shutdown…such a shame if we had to close the place on 20th birthday!
Our studio, formerly known as Flash, opened in 2001 at Mainzerstrasse 11, in the Friedrichshain district, where we still have our headquarters, making us one of the oldest places of its kind in town.
For almost two long decades, we have contributed to making the world a little more colourful, and over this years we have tried to be a place that may not always be perfect, but true, honest and faithful to our ideals. We have gone through many storms together and put a lot of heart, energy and imagination into the existence of this a unique place on the map of Berlin.
This year, due to the pandemic, our studio remained completely closed for several months. And on account of the regulations imposed, and strict sanitary conditions, when we were able to work, we could only do it on a very limited basis.
For this reason, and also because a large part of the studio's income is usually generated by sublet for guest tattoo artists, whose visits we have been almost completely deprived of this year, our financial situation is very bad at the moment.
At this point, again, due another lockdown, we are banned from doing our job, and the promised government aid will not cover the losses incurred on the sub-lease, and thus the actual financial needs generated by the studio.
Those who know me personally know very well that I have never been profit oriented, and as Flashback Tattoo we have never been a typical commercial place.
I have always tried to make sure, that nobody was exploited and our prices were not excessive.
As a studio or tattooists associated with Flashback Tattoo, we took part in non-commercial events and solidarity campaigns, and a part of my earnings I often donated to charity.
For me, it has always been important to support those in need.
Thank you very much to everyone who assisted me in these activities and contributed to the creation of this place in various ways!
Dear friends, in these difficult times, now we need your solidarity!
I hope so much , that thanks to your help and generosity, our ship will not sink yet, and when the skies brighten again, we will have many more wonderful adventures together!
I greet all of you with affection and thank you very much, from all my heart for every form of help!
Sincerely, on behalf of Flashback Tattoo, Ewa
