Campaign Story
My name is Ailyn, a college undergraduate student, and I am a volunteer for Catalyst UPV.
Catalyst UPV is a non-profit organization from the University of the Philippines Visayas which aims to provide a platform for youth empowerment, global collaboration, and social volunteerism. Every year, Catalyst organizes IDEAFEST - an avenue for spirited individuals, artists and thinkers alike to share their ideas and live their passions. Furthermore, our events are integrated with the organization’s flagship project, The Catalyst Project, where we go to far-flung communities and urban slums to conduct a series of leadership and capacity-building workshops for the youth. The proceeds of the event will benefit this endeavor in creating small projects for our communities.
This year’s theme is “IDEAFEST: Against All Odds”. It revolves around a person’s endeavors and how he/she surpassed the challenges that he/she encountered. We all have our own battles to face and each one has a unique story to share that can inspire, motivate and uplift the spirits of others. Ideafest is a fundraising event and this year, it aims to promote alternate income opportunities through locally made wooden goggles or in Kinaray-a known as "linte" by the residents in Brgy. Jinalinan, Bugasong, Antique, a far-flung community in the Philippines.
We are in need of additional funding for the accomplishment of the event on March 2019. Your donations for this event would benefit low-income dwellers of the community in Brgy. Jinalinan whose source of income solely depends on fishing.
