Little Altus was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in one eye when he was three months old. Unfortunately, the growth was already too large and he lost his eye (enucleation) and received a prosthesis.

A mere few months later they received the news that there were two cancer spots developing in the other eye as well. Cryotherapy and laser treatments were unsuccessful. He recently had the first of six chemotherapy treatments in order to save his eyesight. Just think how important sight is for a developing brain at such a young age!

The hospital bills are partially paid for by a medical aid, but for rural people traveling to and from Johannesburg every two weeks for treatments, only the fuel costs add up to more than R3000 per trip. The road ahead includes frequent visits to the eye specialists and the oncologists for chemotherapy.

This funding initiative was started by concerned family members to support the parents of Altus to give him the treatment he deserves to save his eyesight.

-------------
